Mahathir Mohamed (right) has upended Prime Minister Najib Razak at the polls, and now vows to bring Mr Najib to account for alleged corruption. In a win that overturns decades of dominance by the country's main coalition, Mahathir has secured an unlikely second act in the twilight of his political career. It was a gamble for the opposition coalition Pact of Hope to join forces with Mahathir, a divisive figure in the country. Mahathir was spurred out of retirement over allegations huge sums were looted from 1MDB, which Najib set up. Mahathir has vowed to hand power to Anwar once he is released.
